Privacy Policy and Tax reporting: You are probably aware that a Federal regulation known as the "Jenkins Act" requires cigarette vendors to report their sales to the appropriate state tax authorities. You may not know however, that the Jenkins Act was passed more than 50 years ago. Long before the advent of electronic communication and e-commerce. Since that time the federal government and several states have passed legislation specifically relating to electronic communication. The privacy act of 1974 and the Electronics Communication Act of 1986 are examples of this type of legislation. Currently, congress is debating additional legislation to protect privacy in electronic commerce. Therefor our company believes there is ample justification to state the following "Privacy Policy":

...We will not divulge your information for any reason to any third party without your expressed permission. As stated above, at the point of sale all applicable taxes have been paid but you should be aware that you could be liable for additional taxes to your local state and/or community tax authority. You must remember that any out of state purchase you may make is subject to tax in your local area. We suggest that each customer thoroughly research his or her potential liability before making the decision to purchase.

Remember: IROQUOIS TOBACCO DIRECT DOES NOT REPORT TO ANY STATE TAX AUTHORITY AND NEVER WILL. If we are required by a court to supply information to a tax authority we will cease to do business outside of New York State.
